It is a beautiful morning at Odense harbour. While tones from the Danish Naval Band fill the chilly morning air more ships from the Danish Navy arrive at the harbour to participate in “Under Sail For 1000 Years”. The port visit also marks the start of exercise DANEX 06 that will run until September 14.

The largest ship that arrives is the command ship THETIS. On board is Commodore Palle Cortes who will lead the exercise as Commander Danish Task Group (DATG). Following THETIS the mine hunting vessel LAXEN and the corvette OLFERT FISCHER arrive.

The ships will stay in Odense until Monday morning so during the weekend there will plenty of opportunity to see and visit the ships. The detailed programme for the activities of this weekend can be found at this website under the menu item “Portvisits”.
