Early Sunday morning the Cypriot freight ship VELOS ran aground in Jammerbugten of the west coast of Jutland. Because of the oil pollution risk, Admiral Danish Fleet decided to send the environmental protection vessel to the scene.
GUNNAR THORSON where in Odense, as a participator in the DANEX 06 port visit, but the exercise was quickly put aside, when a sharp situation arose.
During the last four day the public has had the opportunity to get a closer look at the Royal Danish Navy environmental protection vessel. Twice a day GUNNAR THORSON and its crew have been struggling to contain and remove “popcorn pollution” from the harbour basin.
That was show. Now there is work to be done, and the ships crew quickly prepared to leave Odense one day early.
Sunday at 10:00 AM GUNNAR THORSON was on its way out of the harbour in Odense.
