The Danish Defence Personnel Organisation
Forsvarets Personeltjeneste – the Danish Defence Personnel Organisation (DDPO) - was established in April 2005 as the first of the new functional services in the Danish Armed Forces.
DDPO is overall responsible for developing policies in the area of personnel. In addition DDPO has the centralised responsibility for recruiting, employing and appointing military and civilian personnel for the armed forces, including conscripted and reserve personnel. Career planning and postings as well as dismissals and retirements are part of the DDPO personnel management responsibility. Administration of salaries, allowances and pensions is also a task for DDPO.
DDPO is currently managing a personnel budget of 8.6 billion Danish kroner – almost half of the Danish defence budget. Geographically DDPO is located throughout the country, with a staff of approximately 700 employees, organised in four divisions: Management Division, Co-ordination & Contact Division, Strategy & Structure Division and Planning Division.
