At all times three air force helicopters are on SAR alert. One is situated in the southern part of mainland Denmark, one in the northern part of mainland Denmark and a third one is situated on the island of Sealand, near Copenhagen. If strong winds are forecasted in The Baltic Sea, a fourth helicopter will be on alert on the island of Bornholm.
During the period 0700-2200 local time the helicopters are on 15 minutes alert. In the period 2200-0700 local time they are on 30 minutes alert.
All other air force aircraft may be called upon to assist in a SAR operation, but they are not on any kind of alert.
In addition a number of coastal rescue stations equipped with rescue cruisers and fast rescue boats are situated along the Danish coastlines.
All Danish naval vessels are available for SAR operations.
The Naval Home Guard operates approximately 30 vessels spread throughout the country, all with SAR responsibilities.
All other government vessels are assigned SAR responsibilities.
