Curriculum Vitae commander of Danish Task Group, commodore Aage Buur Jensen


Commodore Aage Buur Jensen was born on July 12, 1955 in the city of Odense. He is married to Jytte and together they have three sons.
The Commodore joined the Royal Danish Navy in 1975 when he commenced his training at the Danish Naval Academy to become a naval officer.
Upon graduation Commodore Jensen became Principle Warfare Officer on a submarine and continued in the subsurface line of warfare until 1988, including more than five years as commanding officer.
During 1989 he attended a postgraduate diploma course at the Royal Naval Engineering College in Manadon, United Kingdom after which he became commander of the Naval Special Forces in 1990. From 1992 the Commodore served as staff officer at the Naval Material Command where he became section chief in 1993. This was followed by a couple of year’s service as advisor in the Danish Ministry of Defence.
From 1997 to 2000 the Commodore served in Joint Plans & Policy Branch at NATO Joint Headquarters North in Stavanger, Norway.
From 2000 to 2001 Commodore Jensen was commander of the Ocean Patrol Vessel, TRITON, main tasks being Sovereignty Patrol, Surveillance and Search and Rescue in the North Atlantic. In 2001 the Commodore returned to subsurface warfare and became captain of the Submarine Squadron. A position he held until 2003, when he attended the Naval Command Course at the Naval Warfare College in USA.
In 2004 Commodore Jensen became deputy chief of staff of the Operations and Resources division at the Admiral Danish Fleet Headquarters, and from 2006-2010 he served at the Danish Chief of Defence Headquarters. Initially as acting chief of staff Operations and later as acting chief of staff Concept and Development.
Since 2010 Commodore Jensen has been commander of the Danish Task Group (DATG). The core business of DATG is command and control, operational maritime planning and execution of these in a national as well as in an international context.
