Since the beginning of DANEX 08 the ships have been training according to a serialized plan – a timetable with many different subjects. In the final part of the exercise that starts tonight the main purpose is to test whether all the pieces of the jigsaw puzzle can fall into place and form a picture of a naval force that can handle all the challenges it is confronted with.

In the final phase the ships do not know what surprises lie ahead. Only the exercise directors have the script for what’s going to happen. But in the staffs directing the exercise people are both aware of and prepared for that the situation quickly can develop depending on how the different participants react. It is the task of the staffs to see to that the exercise stays on track so that all participants get as much benefit as possible.

While the starting time for the great finale of DANEX 08 draws closer, people therefore work intensely to make sure that all the pieces for the jigsaw puzzle are ready. Everybody is aware of that the last days of the exercise will be both hard and challenging but at se same time exiting and instructive.
