There were lots of people on the pier in Aalborg to visit those DANEX ships, which today were open to visitors. Luckily the rainy weather from this morning had been replaced by mild autumn weather with both drifting clouds and sunshine, so the setting was perfect for a trip to the harbour to get under the Danish Navy’s skin.

Besides the DANEX ships there was also another maritime attraction on the pier: Diveevent 2008. The event, which was held by the city’s diving clubs, was throughout the day focusing attention on diving in the area of Aalborg with different demonstrations, trial dives, dives in the harbour etc. The Danish Navy Diving School also participated in the event with diving demonstrations in a tank.

Tomorrow, Sunday, the divers are gone, but the ships will again be open to visitors and even two hours more than today – that is from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. There will however also be activities on the pier since Seaman Olympics will be held, where the DANEX crews will compete with each other. The Olympics will take place between 2. p.m. and 4 p.m. in front of HDMS STØREN in Sydhavnen.
