The fighter jets are in Greenland as part of the Danish Armed Forces' increased presence in the arctic. In addition to gaining experience with operating with fighter aircraft in the Arctic, the flight gave the Danish commander of the fighter jets, Niels Andersen, the opportunity to greet the base's management.
“I received a thorough briefing about the base and how they solve their tasks under the sometimes harsh circumstances that the Arctic environment and location offer,” said Niels Andersen.
The visit to the base lasted about two hours, after which the planes took to the air again.

The flight from the Arctic Command's facility in Kangerlussuaq to Pituffik Space Base was supported by a French MRTT aerial refueling aircraft, which provides a high degree of flexibility for flight operations in areas such as the Arctic, where great distances and weather pose challenges.
The tanker aircraft from the French Air Force also supported the Danish fighter aircraft during the trip from Denmark to Greenland, and it also operates together with the Danish fighter aircraft during the continued deployment.
