From July 2025, Denmark will deploy two staff officers to the EU Training Mission in Somalia (EUTM-S). One officer serves as a training officer, while the other acts as a maritime advisor.
EUTM-S has been present in Somalia since 2010.
The security situation in the large East African country remains challenging and is characterised by attacks by the terrorist organisation al-Shabaab, as well as clan disputes and organised crime.
The mission’s task is to strengthen Somalia’s own capacity to manage these security threats.
EUTM-S consists of approximately 200 personnel from ten EU member states and two partner nations.
