NATO and the UN are cornerstones of Danish defense and security policy, but Denmark also participates in other international cooperation in the defence area. Denmark thus has close cooperation with a number of other states regarding, among other things, participation in international operations.
NATO - North Atlantic Treaty Organization
The NATO alliance is a cornerstone of Danish defense and security policy and Denmark contributes to NATO's preparedness and standing forces.
UN - United Nations
Denmark is a committed participant in the UN's work, and since the first UN military mission in 1948, the Danish Armed Forces have been a very active contributor to UN operations.
NORDEFCO - Nordic defense cooperation
The Nordic countries have a long tradition of working closely together. This also applies in the area of defence.
Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF)
Denmark participates in the British-led Joint Expeditionary Force (JEF), which is a coalition of ten northern European countries that primarily cooperate for increased security in the Baltic Sea region, the North Atlantic and the area north of the Arctic Circle.
